Coz Cube has a remarkably similar premise and was made 7 years prior to the beginning of the Saw Series. It sounds quite a bit more clever, as well. Wouldn’t surprise me if the dumbed down version of something gained more popularity, but then again I am learning to think less and less of the intelligence of most people nowadays.
it’s similar but i wouldn’t say saw is dumbed down, it has a strong premise all the way through.
also saw isn’t a “Hollywood” film, it started off as a low budget horror shot in 18 days it’s popularity gave the franchise more money, obviously.
i think you are being unecessarily rude with the last sentence, just because one film took off more does not mean the public is unintelligent. it could simply mean one was marketed better than the other.
It’s only *unnecessarily* rude if it’s untrue, and, if you look at the general intelligence of 99 percent of popular films (and the crap that movie franchise has continued to put out in the past few years), it makes perfect sense to those of us who are used to real plots that require real intelligence to follow (IE: BOOKS/PLAYS). ;)
